"Fast & Furious 7" release announced, Beyonce hits release party

Dec. 23 - The latest celebrity news including ''Fast & Furious 7'' is set to release on April 10, 2015, and Beyonce attends release party. John Russell reports.

The release of "Fast & Furious 7," the big-budget action film that was shut down in November after the death of actor Paul Walker, has been pushed back nine months to April, 2015. Walker, who died in a fiery car crash at the age of 40 on Nov. 30, will appear in the film. Universal Pictures said in a statement that series star Vin Diesel and the late Walker would "lead the returning cast." Diesel, also one of the producers, announced the new release date on Facebook on Sunday (December 22).
Beyonce attended the release party of her new self-titled visual album in New York over the weekend and said she had never done anything so brave in her life by surprising fans earlier this month with her fifth solo studio album featuring 14 new songs and 17 videos. The busy songstress played Santa last week as she handed out stacks of 50 dollar gift cards to Walmart shoppers, totaling more than 37,000 worth of holiday cheer.
Two members of Russian punk protest band Pussy Riot were freed from prison on Monday (December 23), deriding President Vladimir Putin's amnesty that led to their early release as a propaganda stunt and promising to fight for human rights.The bandmates were convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for performing a crude "punk prayer" in a Russian Orthodox cathedral in protest at Putin and his ties with the church.
The dwarves and hobbits of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" proved too much for "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues," as the hit fantasy film topped movie charts in North America for a second straight week, earning 31.5 million dollars (USD) over the weekend, which brought its worldwide total to 404 million. The "Anchorman" crew, led by Will Ferrell, was unable to dethrone last week's winner and took in 26.8 million for the No. 2 spot.
