ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
Michael Schumacher's wife, Corinna, arrived on Friday at a Grenoble hospital in France where the seven-time Formula One world champion is spending his 45th birthday after suffering brain injuries in a skiing accident.
The most successful driver in Formula One history with 91 race wins to his credit, Schumacher received severe head injuries while skiing off piste during a family vacation in the French Alpine resort of Meribel on Sunday.
His agent, Sabine Kehm, said on Wednesday that he was in a stable condition and that it was too early to talk about his further prospects. No further update was given on Thursday.
Doctors have carried out two operations on Schumacher so far, including one to remove a build-up of blood from his brain.
Schumacher left the sport last year after a less successful three-year comeback with Mercedes following an earlier retirement from Ferrari at the end of 2006.
His accident triggered an outpouring of concern among fans, former teammates and rivals around the world. Schumacher's wife and teenage children have been at his bedside. He has also received visits from his retired motor racing brother, Ralf, and close friends.
