Jan. 4 - Frigid temperatures and strong winds batter the Midwest and Northeast as arctic chill sets in after major snow storm. Linda So reports.

First it was the snow. Now it's the bitter cold. Record breaking temperatures are gripping the Midwest and Northeast as an arctic chill sets in over the region. SOUNDBITE: CHRIS SMITH, FROM BOSTON, SAYING: "I have thermally insulated boots on, I have on long underwear, I have a turtle neck, a fleece jacket, and a ski coat, and I'm not quite toasty." The dangerously cold weather has already prompted Minnesota's governor to close all public schools on Monday. Wind chills there are expected to drop to 60 below zero. SOUNDBITE: BRENDA CASSELLIUS, EDUCATION COMMISSIONER, SAYING: "We don't want to put kids in a dangerous situation, we want to make sure they're safe, warm, and in their homes." And at airports, the frigid weather is still impacting flights with hundreds of cancellations or delays for travelers.
