ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) In his first weekly address of the year, President Barack Obama urged Congress to extend unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed. Obama, who is on vacation in Hawaii, has been pressing Congress to extend the benefits to help unemployed Americans searching for jobs and to avoid slowing down the economy. "When Congress comes back to work this week, their first order of business should be making this right," Obama said. "Right now, a bipartisan group in Congress is working on a three-month extension of unemployment insurance - and if they pass it, I will sign it." Obama will ratchet up his administration's push for an extension of emergency unemployment benefits on Tuesday with an event at the White House attended by people whose benefits have expired.
