Large wave causes panic in Portugal

Jan. 7 - People watching stormy weather along the Portuguese coast are caught unaware when a large wave crashes over the sea wall, sending them running for safety. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).

A powerful wave sent a crowd of people scrabbling for safety in Portugal on Monday as it crashed over the sea wall in the Foz de Douro area of Porto. Amateur video footage recorded the moment that the wave swept up the beach and flooded over the shore line. In the video, about a dozen people who were gathered at the sea front turn and flee as the strength of the wave becomes evident. Stormy weather in the Atlantic Ocean has stirred up waves of up to 60 feet (18 meters), according to surfing enthusiasts say .
