Large avalanche kills one person, injures three in Colorado

Jan. 7 - One person is dead and three others suffer minor injuries after a large avalanche swept them down a mountain in the back country near the Colorado ski resort of Vail. Jillian Kitchener reports.

Officials say one person was killed and three others injured by an avalanche in Vail, Colorado.
The man killed has been identified as the 24-year-old grandson of the founder of the Vail Mountain ski resort.
Officials say the avalanche came down in the back country just outside of the resort.
An Eagle County Sheriff's spokeswoman said the four people had been skiing and snowboarding at the time and did have some avalanche equipment on them.
A statement said the three injured people were treated and released.
