General Motors wins big at this year's Detroit Auto Show. The automaker won best North American car and truck of the year awards for its Chevy Corvette Stingray and Chevy Silverado pickup. It's the first time in GM's history the company has won both awards in the same year. SOUNDBITE: JEFF LUKE, CHEVROLET SIVERADO CHIEF ENGINEER, SAYING: "Wow, it's been quite a year for us." The redesigned Corvette Stingray beat the Cadillac CTS and the Mazda3 to take the top spot for Car of the Year. SOUNDBITE: TADGE JUECHTER, CHEVROLET CORVETTE CHIEF ENGINEER, SAYING: "The Corvette sells in quite good volumes for a sports car and that's because it does a lot of things well. It's a good daily driver. It's a great long distance tour, good fuel economy, good luggage space, and then it's also at home on the tracks. So kind of any way you want to look at a sports car, Corvette does a really good job." The chief engineer for Chevy's redesigned Silverado says a lot of time and effort were put in to make the truck smarter for its drivers. SOUNDBITE: JEFF LUKE, CHEVROLET SIVERADO CHIEF ENGINEER, SAYING: "It's smarter in the technologies we've added. Our eco-tech3 power train lineup is a great story that provides more fuel economy, and also more horse power and torque at the same time." This week, GM will also make history by welcoming a new CEO, the first-ever woman to lead a global automaker.
