Two warm and cozy five-week-old polar cubs are introduced at Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo. It's been 20 years since the zoo had a polar bear birth and biologist Beatrix Koehler, says the cubs are born very fragile, weighing only 300 to 400 grams, or between 10 and 14 ounces. SOUNDBITE: Beatrix Koehler curator and biologist, Hellabrunn Zoo, saying (German): "They're very helpless little creatures which require a lot of attention from the mother. Above all, they need to be kept warm by the mother. If the mother is nervous and unhappy about her surroundings then she will walk around nervously." For the first time ever, the zoo captured a polar bear birth - and in full color - and the cubs recently opened their eyes for the first time. The sire is not allowed near the cubs until the zoo is certain it's safe. And so far, it looks like mother, Giovanna is quite happy to do nothing more than snuggle up with her offspring.
