"A suicide attack hit the Lebanese restaurant. It was very powerful and shook the area, and after that very intense gunfire took place, we were very frightened. I stood up and was quite shaken, I came out to see that soldiers had arrived from all four corners."
A spokesman from the Afghan Interior Ministry:
(SOUNDBITE) (English) AFGHAN INTERIOR MINISTRY SPOKESMAN, SEDIQ SEDIQI, SAYING:
"There were apparently, according to our primary investigation, three terrorists - one was able to explode the explosives that he had brought with him and two others were trying to enter the restaurant. They were faced with the security guards in the area, two of them have been killed, one was able to explode the explosives. The Afghan security forces - the special units - area here, they have surrounded the area completely and they are trying to look if there are apparently other terrorists inside."
The attack comes at a tough time for Afghanistan with most foreign forces preparing to leave the country this year after more than a decade of war and almost daily attacks.
