Jan. 22 - A major snow storm dumps more than a foot of snow in the Northeast, delaying thousands of flights and making road travel treacherous. Linda So reports.

Crews worked throughout the night to clear roads ahead of the morning commute. A major snow storm that barreled down on the Northeast dumped more than a foot of snow from Boston to Philadelphia. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED DRIVER, SAYING: "Horrendous. That's the best way to describe it. Horrendous." (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED DRIVER, SAYING: "I couldn't see out of my windshield, and my wipers had ice, so I had to clean them up." In New York, workers started the day clearing snow from train platforms. Headaches continue for air travelers affected by the storm. Thousands of flights were cancelled on Tuesday and more are expected in the coming days. (SOUNDBITE) (English) METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AIRPORTS AUTHORITY CHRIS PAOLINO, SAYING: "It's going to take some time to get things back to normal. So we're gonna see some ripple effects from this throughout probably the week." The Northeast is now bracing for bitterly cold temperatures as an arctic chill sets in over the region.
