The relentless war in Syria. Amateur video which can not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show a government airstrike. It's an all too familiar sight in the almost three-year-old conflict with peace efforts in Switzerland moving slowly. The talks aimed at ending the war in Syria took a first tentative step forward earlier Wednesday when both sides agreed to use the same document as the basis of discussions. Although, they disagreed about how the negotiations should proceed. International mediator Lakhdar Brahimi says simply talking is a sign of progress. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UN MEDIATOR LAKHDAR BRAHIMI SAYING: ''I do not expect that we have achieved anything substantial. I am very happy that we are still talking. That the ice is breaking slowly, but it is breaking and that we will separate on Friday and discuss what we will do when we resume.'' Syria's conflict began with popular protests almost three years ago. Now, the country has collapsed into a civil war that has killed more than 130,000 people.
