This beautiful snowy owl survived after it was reportedly hit by a bus in Washington, D.C... And brought to the Smithsonian's National Zoo for care.
An examination found the bird to be alert and responsive, but subdued.
It had no obvious physical injuries. But blood was found in its mouth, which is consistent with head trauma.
The owl will be given x-rays by a city-affiliated animal organization as a precaution.
The group's goal is to restore her health and release her back into the wild as soon as possible.
