Wild weather strikes Italy and the UK as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc on parts of Europe. A torrential downpour in Rome caused rivers to burst their banks -- challenging drivers as they attempt to move through water up to their windshield. Homes in Pisa and Florence were left stranded and water covered farmers' fields. And over 1,000 people in the area have been caught up in the flooding. In a bizare example of the extreme weather....A barn in northern Italy was practically destroyed when an estimated four thousand cubic meters of rock came loose from a cliff. In south-west England, workers are positioning sandbags strategically, with more severe weather expected. Something business owner Jim Winkworth is dreading: (SOUNDBITE) (English) PUB LANDLORD, JIM WINKWORTH, SAYING: "Sixteen weeks last year nearly broke us, how long this is going to go on for this time we don't know. You know you can't live with this risk all the time that your business is going to flood or your customers can't get to you." The coastal area of Somerset Levels has already seen 25 square miles --- or 65 square kilometers swamped by what is being called the worst flooding for 20 years. Further east, strong winds in Serbia caused meters-high snow drifts. Authorities warned people in the north of the country not to travel unless it was absolutely necessary.
