Meanwhile, here in Santa Barbara, the dry weather has left this boat rental company with docks in the sand. Owner Ken Hemer says he's lost about 30 percent of his business over the last month. (SOUNDBITE) KEN HEMER OF COCHUMA MARINA SAYING: "I think people take it for granted-they turn on the tap and water comes out, (cover bite) they don't even think about the source." Department of Water Resources Director Mark Cowin: (SOUNDBITE) DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES DIRECTOR MARK COWIN: "What this should mean to every homeowner is that we are in a crisis here, and everyone needs to pitch in to save water." Recreational companies that cater to kayakers could also start to feel the heat, if their rivers where vacationers go to cool off in the summer, run dry.
