Snow and ice are piling up in the Northeast.
People are dealing with a dicey Wednesday morning commute.
A major winter storm that dumped heavy snow in the Plains and the Midwest is now paralyzing the Northeast.
In Massachusetts, snow is falling fast, blanketing area roads.
The state could get more than a foot of snow.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT SAYING:
"They're saying an inch an hour so that's going to be tough."
In Pennsylvania, icy roads led to a deadly pileup when a tractor trailer crashed through a barrier.
The winter weather is also affecting air travel. Cancellations and delays are piling up.
This year is turning out to be a rough winter. At least 12 states say they're running out of salt for roads.
