Sheets of ice covered cars and roads in Portland, Oregon. Freezing rain snapped trees, causing plenty of damage on the ground. (SOUNDBITE) (English) OREGON RESIDENT TOD SCHNEIDER SAYING: "Tree limbs were just raining down all around us and as you can see it got my van there." Snow and ice made for slick roads in Seattle. Many drivers not used to navigating the roads in this kind of winter weather. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED DRIVER SAYING: "I was just switching lanes and my car just spun out of control." In California, the storm dumped so much rain, a huge mudslide swept away a part of this road. But it's not all bad news for the drought-stricken area. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED CALIFORNIA RESIDENT SAYING: "We still need the rain, we love the rain, so I'm all for it." The wet weather is a welcome sight for many.
