Sometimes you just need a hug.
But what about one that lasts over 25 hours?
Add 22 minutes and 36 seconds to that and you get the Guiness world record for the longest hug.
These couples came together in Thailand's Pattaya (Puh-tai-yah) to break that record.
Constestants must hug their partner continuously with both arms at all times without letting them drop.
It's definitely a challenge says 34-year old Nonthawat Charoenkasetsin. Char-o--kas-ayt-sin
(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) 34-YEAR-OLD CONTESTANT NONTHAWAT CHAROENKASETSIN SAYING:
"This contest might be more difficult. It's different from the kissing contest because we cannot move. We still have free movement for the kissing contest."
However, the contest's physically restrictive aspect, did not deter Russian tourist, Darya Ckuneva and her partner.
(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) 22-YEAR-OLD RUSSIAN TOURIST DARYA CKUNEVA (skoon yah vah) SAYING:
"We think to take part in this competition is very interesting. We have never done this before."
For the winners of the marathon hug there's a cash prize and two diamond rings worth an estimated 350,000 baht or more than $10,700 U.S dollars.
