How do you compose music for a film that's set in silent Space? That's the challenge that faced Steven Price when he wrote the score for the movie "Gravity". And he was clearly up for it - he recently won a BAFTA for Best Original Score and now bookies are betting on Price as the odds-on favorite to win the Oscar in the same category. The English composer says he was lucky to be brought in a full year before production ended. SOUNDBITE: Steven Price, Oscar-nominated "Gravity" score composer, saying (English): "I got to evolve my ideas at the same time as the sound department were evolving theirs. SOUNDBITE: Steven Price, Oscar-nominated "Gravity" score composer, saying (English): "Often all you're seeing is her face and yet somehow through the eyes everything is there, so my job was really to be there with her all the time. Whenever I was having a tricky day, all I needed to do was look at her performance and it would always show me the way forward and what emotionally the film was going to need." Many of the sounds used in the score were created in Price's small studio through experimentation. And if he wins the Oscar on March 2nd, perhaps he'll be moved to expand his workspace.
