ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Christopher O'Neill, the husband of Sweden's Princess Madeleine, announced the birth of their daughter in New York on Friday (February 21). O'Neill spoke during a news conference at New York-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, where the child was delivered. "We are just so thankful that at 10:41 last night (February 20), we brought a little girl into this world," he said. "And she looks like her mum, which is all I wanted. And we have 10 fingers, 10 toes and she's got a very strong, nice roar on her." "She weighs 3,150 grams. She measured 50 centimeters. And she is beautiful and healthy," confirmed Dr. Sona Degann, who delivered the child. O'Neill did not reveal the child's name, but said she appeared to have brown eyes and brown hair. The new father also showed the media his daughter's footprint, in faded ink, on his forearm. Princess Madeleine, fourth in line to the throne of Sweden, was resting and did not attend the news conference. O'Neill said he was present for the entire birth process, of which he has gained a new appreciation. "All deliveries are very difficult and I appreciate that now more than I did yesterday morning. I think it's a wonder that women are who they are, that they can go through that in such grace. I don't think most men would be able to put up with that kind of ordeal," he said. Thirty-one year old Madeleine, whose full title is Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine, Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Halsingland and Gastrikland, married U.S.-British banker Christopher O'Neill in June last year. The New York-based couple announced last September last year they were expecting their first child.
