Kerry Kennedy arrives at a New York courthouse with her attorneys Monday for the first day of her trial. The daughter of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy is charged with driving while impaired. The 54-year-old was arrested in the summer of 2012 after swerving her Lexus into a tractor trailer and driving away. She was later found slumped over the wheel. Kennedy's attorneys argue the entire incident was a mistake that started when she accidentally took the sleeping pill Ambien thinking it was her thyroid medication. SOUNDBITE: GERALD LEFCOURT, KENNEDY'S ATTORNEY, SAYING: "We look forward to the trial and a positive outcome, but we're not going to be discussing the case after every break, and we'll wait for the courtroom to hear all the evidence and we are very hopeful of the result." The trial is expected to last about a week. If convicted, Kennedy could face up to a year in jail.
