ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: There were none of Sonia Rykiel's iconic bright stripes at the label's latest show, instead the collection unveiled on Friday (February 28) at Paris Fashion Week featured warm vests and furs, patterned knitwear and silk evening gowns.
Known by fashion observers for its irreverent and non-conformist style, the brand chimes with the spirit of the Saint-Germain des Pres district where it was born and is still headquartered -- famous for meetings of celebrated writers in local cafes.
Geraldo da Conceicao was showing his third collection as creative director for Sonia Rykiel.
Da Conceicao's Autumn/Winter collection was fit for women sensitive to the cold, with giant coats in fur and felt thrown over wool suits. Well in line with Sonia Rykiel's knitwear tradition, the wool suits would warm up the working women. Suede evening gowns revealed a bit more skin, with low v-cut into the front and thin braces caressing shoulders.
Paris Fashion Week that will wrap up on March 5.
