Winning an Oscar can earn you big money. When Sandra Bullock bagged one in 2009, she was able to sign a deal to star in "Gravity" which is now paying off. A second Oscar could be on the cards and millions of dollars might just end up floating around in her bank account. That's according to Stephen Galloway from The Hollywood Reporter SOUNDBITE Executive Features Editor at The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Galloway, English: "She had the leverage that she was coming off a huge hit with box office and critical acclaim, plus the Oscar. And she got a deal that nobody gets anymore. Which is 20 million dollars up front, against 15 percent of what's called first dollar." And first means Bullock will get a share of the studio's multi-million dollar profits on 'Gravity'. But it's not just an Oscars win that lets the big stars get the big deals. SOUNDBITE Executive Features Editor at The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Galloway, English: "It would have been harder for Sandra Bullock to get that deal without the Oscar. It would have been even harder without the box office of 'Blind Side' which stunned everybody. Remember, Oscars matter, box office matters more." And 2013 Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence has also had a salary boost. SOUNDBITE Executive Features Editor at The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Galloway, English: "She has seen her box office value go up by multiples. And that means her asking price has gone from peanuts for 'Winter's Bone' to $500,000 (USD) for the first 'Hunger Games' to more than 10 million to pretty much whatever she wants if she wants to do a movie now." So, whoever ends up with one of these on March 2nd, could be heading for a payday that's simply out of this world.
