ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION STORY: Stella McCartney gave the fashion world a crash course in mountaineering on Monday (March 3), as she presented an outdoorsy collection of forest green parkas and flat shoes all tied up with climbing rope. Utilitarian zips ran riot, snaking their way round oversized coats to create embroidered flowers and huge hoods and zip-up pockets looked ready to face the Autumn/Winter drizzle in McCartney's native Britain, while narrow-legged stirrup trousers rammed into sporty platforms completed the practical aesthetic. McCartney said daily life had inspired her collection, which breathed fresh air into the grandiose halls of Paris's nineteenth century Opera Garnier. With Rihanna peering out from behind bright red cartoon sunglasses on the front row and British model Cara Delevingne rocking out the finale wearing a woollen jumpsuit, the show had its fair share of stars. The Barbadian singer has been something of an omnipresence at Paris fashion week, cropping up at Dior and Balmain among others.
