Revelers are preparing for Fat Tuesday - a day of music, dancing, parades, and those flashy beads. In fact, they got started over the weekend. Screaming partiers filled the streets of New Orleans during the unofficial kick-off, as a parade rolled through. (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED FESTIVAL-GOER, SAYING: "It's more family centered. I've never seen it as family-centered as this year." (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED FESTIVAL-GOER, SAYING: "I think the bands make the parade. (TURNS TO CHILD) Do you think the bands make the parade? (CHILD ANSWERS) Yeeeeah." One of the most prominent African-American social clubs hosted their annual Zulu Lundi Gras Festival. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FESTIVAL VENDOR JENNIFER BAKER, SAYING: "It's so important because we're native New Orleans and we definitely like to support our own. And it's important because our food is the best." It's all leading up to the Mardi Gras celebration that will explode with energy on Tuesday.
