Bond set at $1.2 million for woman accused of driving children into ocean

March 8 - The bond for Ebony Wilkerson, accused of driving her three children into the Atlantic Ocean, is set for $1.2 million by a Florida judge. Gavino Garay reports.

Authorities are charging 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson with three counts of attempted first degree murder. Now, a Florida judge has set her bond for 1.2 million dollars. Wilkerson is accused of driving her minivan into the Atlantic Ocean in Daytona Beach, Florida, leaving her three children inside. No one was seriously injured in the incident. This video recorded by a Canadian tourist shows lifeguards and bystanders at Daytona Beach frantically pulling the children from the van. One of the children, a three-year-old toddler was apparently strapped into a booster seat. Her attorney called for a "reasonable" bond to be set. SOUNDBITE: Attorney for Ebony Wilkerson, saying: "We would like to ask the court to set a reasonable bond on all counts." The prosecution called for a high bond. SOUNDBITE: Prosecutor, saying: "...Should be an extremely high bond, if we can get into the facts of being a flight risk, not being a citizen of the state of Florida, being a danger to the community, obviously based on the facts of this case and a danger to herself and obviously an unborn child." Officials said Wilkerson underwent a mental evaluation after the incident. The Volusia County Sheriff's Department says she denies trying to kill her children..
