Meet the Garris family and their best friend. (SOUNDBITE) (English) KAYLA GARRIS SAYING: "That would be Bean the Cat." Just a week ago, this apartment complex burned down in Oklahoma. Firefighters battled through sleet and snow, searching for anything or anybody left behind, including Bean. (SOUNDBITE) (English) KAYLA GARRIS SAYING: "He went back in numerous times, flipping furniture over, trying to find her. And then after maybe four or five times of going back in, not being able to stand the smoke anymore, the firefighters told him he had to leave. So we thought she was gone." But 24 hours after the flames subsided, Bean crawled out of the rubble. (SOUNDBITE) (English) STEVE DAY, WOODWARD FIRE CHIEF, SAYING: "In the southeast corner of the apartments, if there was any place that anything may have survived, that's where it was at and that's where the cat was at." (SOUNDBITE) (English) KAYLA GARRIS SAYING: "She survived everything--the fire, the smoke, the snow, the sleet, the bulldozing. She made it through everything and it made it so much better." And while the family lost much of their belongings, they still have each other.
