New Jersey teen who sued parents is reunited with mom and dad

March 12 - A lawyer representing the family of 18-year-old Rachel Canning says the teen, who had sued her parents for tuition and child support, is back at home. Mana Rabiee reports.

Eighteen-year-old Rachel Canning is reunited with her parents. The New Jersey honor student had taken them to court for tuition and child support after moving out of the house. On Wednesday, a lawyer representing the family made the announcement she was back at home. SOUNDBITE: FAMILY ATTORNEY ANGELO SARNO SAYING: "The healing needs to begin. It began last night, and the less involvement with the court, with attorneys and with the media, the better." Court documents showed tension in the family over things like curfew, drinking and boyfriends. The judge hearing the case recommended the family seek counseling. SOUNDBITE: FAMILY ATTORNEY ANGELO SARNO SAYING: "Nothing good could have come from this case. Absolutely nothing good. Even this amicable resolution and fair and right resolution occurring, it's still not good. This kid's going to be affected long-term from the attention." Last week, a judge refused the teen's request for tuition and child support. He did set an April court date to consider whether they have a general obligation to financially support their adult daughter.
