PLEASE NOTE: EDIT CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 4:3 ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION A Chinese government agency website on Wednesday (March 12) said a Chinese satellite had photographed three "suspicious floating objects" in waters north-east of Kuala Lumpur and south of Vietnam in the area where missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is thought to have vanished. The website of the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence said the images were taken over the "suspected accident area at sea" on Sunday (March 9) that was not far from where the plane made its last known communication with air traffic control. There was no immediate explanation why the Chinese agency waited for four days to reveal the images. China's state television CCTV reported the finding on Thursday morning (March 13). CCTV said the satellite detected three suspicious floating objects measuring about 13 by 18 metres, 14 by 19 metres, and 22 by 24 metres. Vietnam has already searched the area where the Chinese satellite spotted the objects but a plane has been sent to check the area again, Vietnamese military officials said on Thursday. Another military official said Vietnam was waiting to see photographs taken by the Chinese satellite in order to identify the exact location for further inspection. However, China's civil aviation chief Li Jiaxiang said there was no proof that the floating objects in the South China Sea were connected to the missing aircraft.
