March 14 - Two U.S. Iwo Jima veterans receive a special send-off, complete with choir performance, as they depart for a memorial ceremony in Japan. Gavino Garay reports.

Two World War II veterans receive a special send-off as they fly to Iwo Jima, Japan via LAX for a memorial ceremony. The two passengers included an 83-year-old veteran from Tallahassee, Florida and a 94-year-old from Carlsbad, California. (SOUNDBITE) LT. GEN. LAWRENCE SNOWDEN SAYING: "We go for the single purpose of honoring the dead on both sides." (SOUNDBITE) VETERAN JOHN MCKENZIE SAYING: "Very emotional, still is. Very hard to talk about, being with it so long. Just kinda difficult, it gets to you." The TSA and United Airlines participated in the send-off, complete with a choir performance and a color guard salute. Once a year, Iwo Jima is opened up for memorial services for both U.S. and Japanese veterans.
