Slippers and clothing lie strewn on the floor in the Nigerian capital....the result of a deadly stampede. Thousands of people came here to the national stadium in Abuja in the hope of finding a job. It was full to capacity. Outside tens of thousands more waited to take a test for the chance of work in the immigration service. Desperate job seekers stampeded crushing several people to death. (SOUNDBITE) (English) WOMAN SAYING: "They can arrange these things ... the world is computerised these days. We are in a global world. There is a better way of doing things." Scores were injured and hospitals were unable to cope. The sheer size of the crowds is a testament to the vast numbers of unemployed in Nigeria.
