A St. Patrick's Day winter storm blasts the U.S. mid-Atlantic on Monday (March 17) shutting schools and federal offices in the Washington D.C. area.
Between seven and nine inches of snow fell overnight, and plows and salt trucks were out early clearing major roads. The late-season snowfall, was the third heaviest this winter.
