A California man prosecutors say was on his way to Syria to join an al Qaeda splinter group was arrested on Monday (March 17 ) in Washington state near the U.S.-Canada border.
Twenty-year-old Nicholas Teausant of Acampo, California is charged with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.
He is also accused of plotting to bomb the Los Angeles subway.
If convicted, he faces a possible 15-years in prison and $250,000 fine.
