L'Wren Scott's death shocks the fashion world

Mar 18 - Fashion designer and longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger dies from an apparent suicide. Alicia Powell reports.

One day after fashion designer L'Wren Scott was found dead in New York, people around the world are reacting to the news. The longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, was found hanging from a scarf in her apartment. SOUNDBITE: Judith Duncan, New York resident, saying (English): "It's really sad the way she died. And then I heard it's suicide and it's a sad way for anyone to go. She must have had a lot of problems. You see sometimes you see the outside and you don't even know what is really happening inside." Scott's death has jolted the fashion industry. At Japan Fashion Week stylist Keith Washington said he was stunned by the news. SOUNDBITE: Keith Washington, stylist, saying (English): "It's you know, I think it's a shock to the fashion community and also to everyday people. So it kind of came out of nowhere." As the news broke, Jagger was about to kick off a Rolling Stones concert tour in Australia - the band has since canceled the concert, leaving their 'Down Under' tour in limbo. SOUNDBITE: Unidentified fan, saying (English): "It's just a concert so, you know, you got to put things into perspective and empathize for people through such losses." A spokesperson for Jagger said he was "completely shocked and devastated." The pair had been an item since 2001. L'wren Scott was 49 years old.
