Korean War veterans meet in Washington, DC

March 29 - More than sixty years after the Korean War, veterans fly to Washington, DC, to visit a memorial dedicated to them. Vanessa Johnston reports.

Korean War veterans visit their memorial in Washington, DC. It has been more than sixty years since they stood side by side in battle. Bob Podany says being here brings back a lot of memories. (SOUNDBITE) (English) KOREAN WAR VETERAN, BOB PODANY, SAYING: "With the other guys, we manage to kid each other and keep it going. We have our little tears in between, but it's beautiful." For many, it was also an opportunity to show their families a slice of their past. Bob brought his grandson James, and three great-grandchildren. (SOUNDBITE) (English) GRANDSON OF BOB PODANY, JAMES PODANY, SAYING: "To participate and bring my children here to be with him, it's very special." It is a trip they say they'll never forget.
