Pakistan's former president Pervez Musharraf arrives at court amid tight security on Monday. He's pleaded not guilty to five charges of treason. He faces the death penalty if convicted. The charges relate to Musharraf's suspension of the constitution and imposition of emergency rule in 2007. Monday's hearing is a landmark. It's the first time a former military officer of Musharraf's rank has appeared in court before a judge. He's faced a series of cases since he returned to Pakistan from exile to contest elections in May. The treason case has been repeatedly delayed since December. First Musharraf refused to appear, then several explosive devices were discovered along his route to court. In January he was admitted to hospital after suffering chest pains on the way to court. Musharraf's lawyers are asking consent for him to visit his sick mother in Dubai. He's currently under house arrest.
