ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Spring arrived at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. which is awash in Yoshino cherry blossom trees' iconic white and pink buds. The trees line Washington's tidal basin, triangulating a path from the Capitol Building and the Washington and Jefferson memorial. When in bloom, they mark the arrival of Spring in the U.S. capital. Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, D.C.. Every year, more than one million visitors admire the 3,770 trees around the capitol's Tidal Basin during the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, bringing more than $100 million to Washington's economy.
