Hitting UK screens shortly is Indonesian martial arts movie "The Raid 2". Featuring the Indonesian martial art known as pencak cilat and with the dialogue mostly in Indonesian, the film is surprisingly directed by Welshman Gareth Evans. SOUNDBITE Director, Gareth Evans, saying (English): "I ended up doing a documentary about martial arts in Indonesia and it's about pencak cilat which is the style of martial arts that Iko does and is from Indonesia and so I'd been watching martial arts films all the time as a kid - never thought I'd be making them at all - and then suddenly I'm out there learning about this martial art and then finding out it's really cinematic. It's very adaptable to environments so if you're in a tight space or a wide open space, it's one of those things where you can always find an escape route." "The Raid 2" follows rookie cop Rama who, in his quest to wipe out corruption in Jakarta, goes undercover in a crime syndicate to bring it down from the inside. However, he soon finds himself in the midst of a gang war, which leads to a lot of fight scenes. SOUNDBITE Director, Gareth Evans, saying (English): "I have ideas already for 'The Raid 3' and if the second one starts two hours after the first one ends so the third one starts two to three hours before the second one ends so we go back in time and then branch off so it should be pretty interesting." "The Raid 2" goes on release in the UK on April 11th.
