Spring has finally sprung in Washington, D.C., where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom following a colder than normal winter. Thousands of visitors are flocking to the capitol's tidal basin to see the pink and white flowers. The National Cherry Blossom Festival marks Japan's gift of 3,000 cherry trees to the U.S. back in 1912. The symbol of friendship also seems to inspire love and artistic interpretation. It gives a boost to the local economy as well, bringing in more than $100 million in tourism each year. By any count, the blooms truly are a sight to behold.
