New Brit boy band The Vamps played a special show in London on Monday April 14 to mark the release of their debut album. The four-piece, Brad, James, Connor and Tristan have been working on 'Meet the Vamps' since they formed a few years back. The record shares a similar title to the Beatles' second album, and the boys said it was an intentional tribute. SOUNDBITE, James McVey, singer, saying (English): "We are all obviously inspired by them. Me and Brad listen to them probably the most out of the four of us don't we? But yes they are awesome." Their fans were out in force for the in-store concert, but some of them have gone to extreme lengths to catch a glimpse of their idols in the past. SOUNDBITE, Tristan Evans, drummer, saying (English): "They are ruthless sometimes, they're intense but it's amazing. You know, they jump on the van, which we don't promote we don't like, it's dangerous....They do things that are really really crazy. But as long as they are supportive we love them." The band's latest single Last Night is at number 2 in the UK charts, their third top three hit. And their success has prompted inevitable comparisons with Brit boy band rivals One Direction. SOUNDBITE, The Vamps, saying (English): Reporter; Are you bored of being compared to One Direction yet? Tristan: 'No they are good looking lads' Brad: "They are very successful aren't they but I think we are a very different band in the sense that the music is very different... Hair wise maybe there's some similarities." They band headed to their next engagement across town by travelling on London Underground. If they do go on to replicate the One Direction boys' global success and fame, this may be one of the last times they can travel this way and go relatively unnoticed.
