He's been called many things --- traitor --- hero ----now Bradley Manning will be allowed to go by the name Chelsea.
A Kansas judge ruled the former Army intelligence analyst, who is serving 35 years in prison for turning over classified files to WikiLeaks, will be able to change his name.
Asked why he wanted to change his name, Manning in a statement said it's a "more honest reflection of who I am and always have been."
Manning has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. And while the name change which be reflected in Manning's military records, his status as a male inmate at Fort Leavenworth will not change.
