Pole vaulters show off their skills at Iowa mall

April 24 - High jumpers wowed audiences at an Iowa mall in a bid to promote the Drake Relays, one of the most famous track and field events in the U.S. Vanessa Johnston reports.

Here's a sight you don't see at the mall every day - pole vaulters. Shoppers in Iowa got a treat as athletes showed off their skills at this week's Drake Relays. SOUNDBITE (English) FRENCH POLE VAULTER, RENAUD LAVILLENIE, SAYING: "I'm very happy about the atmosphere here and to take some wind, take some jumps, have some fun. That's very important for me." Organizers also took one of the country's most famous track and field events into a city park and a grocery store. The first Drake Relays in Iowa began in 1910. Many Olympic athletes are among the competitors.
