Multiple forest fires are burning in New Jersey. Officials say dry weather and strong winds are intensifying the fires. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW JERSEY FOREST FIRE DIVISION, GREG MCLAUGHLIN, SAYING: "The conditions today were very, very appropriate for fast spreading wildfire, fast developing wildfire." Fire crews managed to contain the first large fire around 10 p.m. Thursday, as another raged five miles away. Officials say the class five fire - the most dangerous kind - burned 307 acres. More than 600 homes were evacuated from the area. (SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW JERSEY RESIDENT, LISA JOSIAH, SAYING: "It was more nerve-wracking than anything, just being able to see the heavy smoke so close to the house. And with the winds being as strong as they are, there's no telling what could happen." Residents are now allowed to return home. No injuries have been reported, though some houses sustained minor damage from smoke and heat.
