ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
At least nine people were killed when a car bomb went off in a popular market in Baghdad's eastern Shi'ite neighbourhood on Sunday (April 27), police said.
The attack came just three days before the country's parliamentary elections on April 30.
Up to 27 other civilians were also wounded in the blast in Sadr City, the scene of frequent car bomb attacks.
The explosion also caused damage to a number of shops.
The elections, a key test for the country's fledgling democracy, will take place against a backdrop of rising violence and fighting in western Anbar province to expel al Qaeda linked groups.
