Danish restaurant, Noma, regained its crown in gastronomical folklore after being awarded the title of World's Best Restaurant, after losing out on the top spot last year. Noma and head chef René Redzepi were hailed kings of the culinary world by more than 900 experts from across the globe. This is the fourth win for Redzepi and Noma, since 2010. SOUNDBITE: René Redzepi, Noma chef and World's Best Restaurant 2014 winner, saying (English): "I am genuinely, totally, my mind is blown that we managed to do this, this year." Last year was described as a "restaurant mid-life crisis" for Noma, which had to contend with an outbreak of norovirus. And Redzepi and his team were forced to do some soul searching. SOUNDBITE: René Redzepi, Noma chef and World's Best Restaurant 2014 winner, saying (English): "People were telling us that 'oh, okay, you're having a real rough moment,' and the 10 years you've been open you've only been going upwards, and so I just huddled the team together and I said 'okay, we can do two things, we can become afraid and start to change things and lose our confidence, or we can just really grow together as a team and just push.'" Redzepi is well known for his version of so-called "new Nordic cuisine," often reminiscent of its neighboring Danish landscape and culture. Many argue the Restaurant Magazine award carries as much prestige, if not more, than the well known Michelin Star.
