Retro cars hit the road in central Moscow rally

April 29 - A retro car rally draws enthusiasts to central Moscow to mark the opening of the retro rally club's 10th season. Roselle Chen reports.

Vintage Cadillacs, Rolls-Royces and Chevrolets recently flooded central Moscow, to open a new season of the retro rally club, in classic car style. As the retro-shaped shiny vehicles lined up in front of a Moscow hotel, their equally stylish owners were chatting and posing for pictures under the bright spring sun. Anna Doroshina, the proud owner of a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado, treats her car almost like a child, saying that this was the first time she took it for a ride in a big city. SOUNDBITE: Anna Doroshina, car enthusiast, saying (Russian): "We are fans of American retro cars. We have a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado. Initially, when I was looking for a car, I was dreaming of buying a (Ford) Thunderbird. But when I saw the Eldorado, my wild heart melted. This is the first time we have taken it out, we want it to communicate and make friends with other cars, because it is really important for it." After showing off their cars, rally participants drove through central Moscow in a given amount of time, marking the opening of the 10th season of the club. Retro rally club is considered the biggest community for retro car collectors in Russia.
