It's going to be a showdown for the best actress Tony award this year with some of the Great White Way's most famous leading ladies going head-to-head in a battle to be named Broadway's best. Two-time winner Sutton Foster is considered a front-runner for the trophy. In "Violet" Foster plays a scarred woman on a search for physical beauty in the 1964 deep South. SOUNDBITE: Sutton Foster saying (English): "We already feel like we've won. So this, it just feels like, I'm like, 'what, huh, who?' And it's just sort of incredible to be honored for this piece. I just feel so passionately about the piece as a whole." Foster's biggest competition: Broadway darling and 5-time nominee Kelli O'Hara, whose moving role as a housewife having a love affair has been called a career-defining performance. O'Hara said despite being a repeat nominee, this one felt different. SOUNDBITE: Kelli O'Hara saying (English): "No not new, but still exciting and still overwhelming. But different, different this year, different because I'm just - the show that I'm in is incredibly fulfilling already. So it just feels like, it's too much." Broadway favorite Idina Menzel is also in the running for her turn in "If/Then." Although the show has received lackluster reviews, critics have praised Menzel's performance. Some new faces could also steal the spotlight on Tony night. Jessie Mueller has earned rave reviews for her portrayal as legendary singer Carole King in "Beautiful, The Carole King Musical." Mueller said King made calls to the cast after the nominations were announced. SOUNDBITE: Jessie Mueller saying (English): "She called me yesterday. I missed her call, but now I have a voice mail from her. So it's great." Rounding out the category is Mary Bridget Davies, who is up for her role in "A Night with Janis Joplin." The Tonys will be handed out on June 8.
