May 1 - Thousands are said to have taken to the streets of downtown Los Angeles for the annual May Day protest march to demand immigration reform and worker's rights. Mana Rabiee reports.

Thousands marched on downtown Los Angeles Thursday in the annual May Day demonstration. Groups of protesters peppered the area to spotlight their demands for immigration reform and worker's rights. SOUNDBITE: ANGELICA SALAS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CHIRLA, SAYING: "We're raising our voices on behalf of immigrant workers and their families. But we're also joining our fight this year with all the workers who work in Los Angeles for poverty wages." They're using the international day of the worker to say they're tired of staying in low paying jobs that don't let them get ahead in life. SOUNDBITE: JOSE PAZ, MCDONALD'S WORKER, SAYING: "Aside from being paid $8 an hour, I feel like it's not a livable wage, but I face many injustices in the work place." SOUNDBITE: MARIA ELENA DURAZO, LOS ANGELES FEDERATION OF LABOR, SAYING: "Immigrants today are saying we want out of the low wage poverty where wage theft is prevalent, we don't get paid for overtime, we don't have worker's comp, we don't have any of these rights." Protesters also are urging lawmakers to provide a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants in California and to end deportations.
