May 4 - A Rhode Island safety official says there are ''a lot of broken bones'' after a circus platform crashed to the ground with acrobats still tethered to it. Gavino Garay reports.

Dramatic video captures the moment a circus platform crashed to the ground with at least nine acrobats attached to it. Many in the crowd at Rhode Island's Dunkin' Donuts Center assumed it was part of the act. Providence Public Safety Comissioner Steven Pare. (SOUNDBITE) PROVIDENCE PUBLIC SAFETY COMISSIONER STEVEN PARE SAYING: "At our 11 o'clock show here at 'the Dunk' we had an unfortunate accident. There were approximately between 15 and 20 people that were injured from a platform that collapsed above the stage. Nine are being treated at Rhode Island hospital. They're in critical, but expect to be non-life-threatening injuries, a lot of broken bones, etc." The acrobats fell at least 25 feet -- roughly the height of a two-story building. The cause of the collapse is under investigation. The circus troop, Ringling Bros., did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
