Slung over their shoulders, they wear their guns with pride. In solidarity.
In West El Paso, they're exercising their right to openly carry rifles and long arms.
They're from an organization called "Come and Take it Texas."
They believe that the more people who get used to seeing guns in public, the safer they'll be.
Guns --- they say --- are a deterrent to crime.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) GUN ADVOCATE MICHAEL KEOUGHAN, SAYING:
"Walking down the street, you never know what you're going to run in to. So to have fire arm in you, like I said, it's your right; it's your duty to protect your family."
Gun advocates here say they'd prefer carrying handguns to rifles --- but it's illegal to openly carry handguns in Texas.
