San Francisco Zoo's newest resident has a name. The rare red panda - native to Nepal, China and other parts of Asia - is called Tenzing, in honor of the famous Mount Everest Sherpa, Tenzing Norgay, who guided Sir Edmund Hillary on his ascent in 1953. Tenzing is one of the most popular attractions here and though he's almost one year old, for now, he's climbing solo - though the zoo hopes to soon acquire of few more of this vulnerable species.
